Away during the Werribee District by-election?

If you're away at any point between Wednesday 29 January and Saturday 8 February, you can still vote in the Werribee District by-election.

Early voting and postal vote applications have both closed.

If you are away from Victoria and did not vote early or apply to vote by post, let us know by filling in an 'Away from Victoria' form.

This form is linked to your enrolment details. To fill in the form, please check your enrolment first, and then click the 'Away from Victoria' button.

Check your enrolment

You can also download an overseas notification form if you have left Australia indefinitely.

Keep evidence of your travel in case you receive an 'Apparent failure to vote notice' in the months after the by-election. This letter is your chance to explain why it appears you did not vote. This notice is not a fine.

Voting outside your district

The Werribee and Prahran by-elections are happening on the same day. This means you can vote at any voting centre in Prahran or Werribee districts from now until voting closes.

Please note that voting outside of the district you are enrolled in can sometimes take longer.

Vote interstate or overseas

All interstate and overseas voting in this by-election is by post. Applications to vote by post have now closed.

If you applied before the deadline, make sure you post your completed postal vote back to us by 6 pm on Saturday 8 February (your local time).

We must receive your completed postal vote by 6 pm on Friday 14 February for it to count. Please allow enough time for it to reach us.

Registered overseas voters

If you are living overseas and plan to return to Australia within 6 years of leaving, you can register as an overseas voter with the Australian Electoral Commission at aec.gov.au/overseas.

If you are already registered as an overseas voter and a general postal voter, we will post you a ballot pack after Wednesday 29 January. You don’t need to apply for a postal vote.
