Low-sensory voting

If you need a quieter and calmer environment to vote in the Prahran District by-election due to sensory overload, you can come to our low-sensory mobile voting session on Tuesday 28 January.

We have designed this session to create a welcoming and calm environment away from the regular noise and stimulation of a voting centre.

When: 10 am to 6 pm on Tuesday 28 January.

Where: Toorak/South Yarra Library, 340 Toorak Road, South Yarra.

During the session you will notice:

  • lighting at the venue has been dimmed
  • extra space around voting booths
  • a temperature-controlled environment
  • quieter voting centre
  • staff trained to support people with a hidden disability.

Family and friends supporting a person with sensory needs can also vote during the session.

What is mobile voting?

Mobile voting means we can take our enrolment and voting services to Victorians who might otherwise have trouble attending a voting centre. This can include:

  • hospitals and rehab facilities
  • aged care facilities
  • residential disability services.

By law, mobile voting is not open to the general public.
