  • How-to-vote cards

A how-to-vote card is a printed guide that shows voters how a person or group wants you to fill out your ballot paper. They are a suggestion only – how you vote is up to you.

All how-to-vote cards must be properly authorised.

Anyone can create a how-to-vote card. In some situations how-to-vote cards must be registered with us before being handed out. This helps voters identify who has created the document.

You must register your how-to-vote cards with the election manager if they will be:

    • handed out on election day (Saturday 8 February) within 400 metres of a voting centre
    • carried by our mobile voting teams.

You do not need to register how-to-vote cards to hand them out during the early voting period (Wednesday 29 January to Friday 7 February).

How-to-vote card registrations open on Tuesday 28 January. Registrations close at 12 noon on Friday 31 January.

We will publish all registered how-to-vote cards on this website.
