Victorians of all generations and backgrounds are crucial to deciding this election: VEC statewide campaign to help all to make their voice heard
For immediate release
Victorians aged 18-44 years of age will have a very strong voice this state election, making up 44% of the vote on Saturday 28 November.
The youth vote is key to deciding this election, Gen Z (age 18-29) and Millennial voters (aged 30-44) represent 44% of enrolled Victorians, while 24% are Gen X voters (aged 45-59) and 32% of voters are above the age of 60.1
Along with strong youth representation, 30% of Victorians are born overseas and 52% have either one or both parents born overseas.2
Electoral Commissioner Sven Bluemmel said more than 4.6 million Victorians are being asked to make their voices heard in the 2026 state election this November.
'We are urging all eligible Victorians to make sure they participate at this state election and have their say,' Mr Bluemmel said.
'Voting is our democratic right, and while it is compulsory in state elections for those living in Victoria who are Australian citizens aged 18 years and over, voting is also a privilege that allows each of us to have a real say in our future.
'Every vote counts, so make sure you're enrolled, understand your voting options and plan ahead to cast your vote by 6pm on election day, Saturday 28 November.'
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) has launched its new statewide advertising campaign with information about enrolment and voting.
The campaign will also address the spread of false or misleading information about election processes. While there are no laws that regulate truth in political advertising in Victoria, all election material must be authorised under the law.
'If someone is telling you how, when or where to vote, stop and consider where the information is coming from, to help you make an informed decision,' Mr Bluemmel said.
'The VEC is an independent, reliable source you can trust for information about elections to make your vote count.'
