Call for candidates for Darebin and Whittlesea by-elections

Candidate nominations for the Darebin City Council, North West Ward and Whittlesea City Council, Lalor Ward by-elections are now open

‘If you want to represent your local community, I encourage you to nominate,’ Electoral Commissioner Sven Bluemmel said. ‘You’ll need to lodge your nomination in person during the nomination period.’

Prospective candidates must make an appointment to submit their nomination form and pay the $250 fee in person during business hours.

‘To make a nomination appointment, you can call us on 131 832 and you’ll be directed through to the relevant election office,’ Mr Bluemmel added. ‘You can also start your nomination online using the Candidate Helper tool at candidatehelper.vec.vic.gov.au to save time.’

The election offices will be open on weekdays from Monday 16 June to Friday 1 August at: 

• Darebin City Council election office
  Preston City Hall, 284 Gower Street, Preston
• Whittlesea City Council election office
  Unit 12, 63 Ricky Way, Epping

Nominations close at 12 noon on Tuesday 24 June. Late nominations will not be accepted.
